4. P-2e P-8e
5. P-2d Px2d
6. Rx2d P*2c
(diagram 1)

MORIUCHI stated the game with P-2f . This move has some meanings , (1) To start "Aigakari" or "Kakukawari" opening , (2) To prevent Gote's 1...R-3b .

MIURA's reply 1...P-3d and 2...G-3b is mainly a starting moves set of "Ittezon Kakukawari " . But he transpositioned to "Yokofutori" by 4...P-8e , and he selected very rare variation ; 6...P*2c .

Why the variation 6...P-2c is rare ? The answer is that 2 effective variations for Sente exist .
After diagram 1 ,
  • 7. Rx3d Bx8h+ 8. Sx8h B*2e 9. R-3f
  • 7. Rx3d Bx8h+ 8. Sx8h B*2e 9. Rx3b+ Sx3b 10. S-3h S-3c 11. P-1f .
MORIUCHI selected the 2nd variation .
