Shogi News; NHK cup tournament; SASAKI beated NAGANUMA with "Gokigen Nakabisha".

Shogi News; The 58th NHK cup tournament .

SASAKI led the opening to "Gokigen Nakabisha" . NAGANUMA didn't select major popular tactics against "Gokigen Nakabisha" . SASAKI get the 5th file "Kurai" ; To position the Pawn at 5e , and the opening transpositoned to Gote "Gosuji Kuraidori Nakabisha " . NAGANUMA choiced interesting moves ; G-6h and K-6i . This formation has an idea against Gote's 5th file Pawn exchange ,because move of the King to 6i can become effective ; when Gote exchange the 5th file Pawn , P-5f Px5f Rx5f is not a check .

19. G-7h P-9d

(diagram 2)

NAGANUMA developed his right Silver to 4f , SASAKI must move S-4d to keep the balance in 4th and 3rd file . SASAKI became difficult to advance and start attacking move by move .
NAGANUMA made "Ibisha Anaguma" and he got strategically victory , but to win is sometimes very difficult .

Shogi News; Daiwa shoken cup; WATANABE won the championship !

Shogi News; The 2nd Daiwa Shoken cup ; Saikyou sen tournament final .

The final game of Saikyou sen tournament between SUZUKI and WATANABE started 2:00 P.M. 24 August 2008 at Tokyo .

3. R-6h S-6b
4. K-4h K-3b
5. K-3h P-8d
(diagram 1)

SUZUKI is a famous "Furibisha" player . His move 2.P-1f perhaps means , if WATANBE reply 2...P-8d , SUZUKI will move P-5f and advanced the opening to "Gokigen Nakabisha" . ( We can call it Sente-Gote reversed "Gokigen Nakabisha" with P-1f.)

WATANABE's move 2...K-4b means to decline "Gokigen Nakabisha" . If SUZUKI still move P-5f , WATANABE will advanced the opening like following ; 3.P-5f Bx8h+ 4. Sx8h B'5g . Then Sente can't prevent Gote's promoting Bishop .

SUZUKI selected "Shiken Bisha" without closing Bishop's line by P-6f ; "FUJII's open Shikenbisha" .

After Bishop exchange SUZUKI finished making "Mino gakoi", and WATANABE started making "Ibisha Anaguma" . While WATANABE was making "Ibisha Anaguma" , SUZUKI advanced the left side of his camp "TATEISHI ryu" formation . Then SUZUKI got some advantage in this game , WATANABE has some difficulty to move his pieces .

TANIGAWA led the openig "Gokigen Nakabisha" . HABU seemed to select "Nimai Gin kyuusen" to beat "Gokigen Nakabisha" , because he advanced his camp without P-2e . Then TANIGAWA exchanged the Bishops and ranged the Rook to 2b , so opening became "SATO ryu Mukai Bisha" with Bx8h+ .

HABU tried to get the advantage by dropping his Bishop at 7g square , TANIGAWA had better to defend his Rook on 2b . TANIGAWA escaped his Rook to 1b , HABU tried attacking 2nd file , TANIGAWA protected there by G-3b . Against HABU's 2nd file Pawn exchange , TANIGAWA must use his left side pieces and several moves to protect 2nd file before he uses the Rook at 1b .

While TANIGAWA made his Rook useful , HABU advanced his camp . HABU succesfully made "Ginkanmuri " , but TANIGAWA cost too many moves and pieces on his left side he couldn't made safe castle without any defects . In other words , HABU got a better position .

After 123 moves until P'6f , HABU won this game .
