MARUYAMA is very strategical player , he usually select very limited openings . He had selected "Yokofutori" as Gote before , but recently he choiced "Ittezon kakukawari" or "Yonteme San-San Kaku senpou" . In this game , he choiced very interesting & rare opening , "Nana-Yon Fu senpou" with 2...P-7d .
"Nana-Yon Fu senpou" has 2 starting version ; (1) 1.P-7f P-7d , (2) 1.P-7f P-3d , 2.P-2f P-7d. MARUYAMA selected 2nd version .
FUKAURA replied with simply developping his Rook Pawn . And the game advanced something like "Aigakari" or "Yokofutori" .

Both players advanced their each camp move by move . Slowly MARUYAMA has some difficulty in using his Rook , and in the same time it is difficult for him to make solid Kakoi .
Finally the battle was opened above his King's head .

After 125 moves , FUKAURA won this game , and he got the best score in this league . Then FUKAURA became the challenger of Osho sen title match . The match will start 17 January 2009 .
