Shogi News: The 67th Meijin sen 7 games title match

The 3rd game of Shogi Meijin sen 7 games title match between HABU and GOUDA has started 9:00 A.M. 7 May 2009 at Fukuyama city , Hiroshima .

GOUDA naturaly opened his Bishop line with 1.P-7f . Different from 1st game of this match , HABU also opened his Bishop line with 1...P-3d . HABU's 1st move means he don't accept GOUDA's Ai-Yagura , and he wants to select Yokofutori , Ittezon Kakukawari , Furibisha or other opening .

GOUDA pushed his Rook Pawn with 2.P-2f and by this move he shown the attitude to select Ibisha . HABU also pushed the Rook Pawn with 2...P-8d . The major lines after these moves are "Yokofutori" and "Ittezon Kakukawari" .

Both GOUDA and HABU advanced their Rook Pawns , and the opening was almost limited "Yokofutori" . They moved up their left Gold beside their Bishop to protect the head of Bishops . They exchanged their Rook Pawn , and GOUDA captured the 3d Pawn by sidestep of his Rook with 8.Rx3d . This Pawn capturing is the characteristic move of Yokofutori .

HABU replied with 8...B-3c , this shape is called "Yokofutori NAITOU ryu San-San Kaku senpou" . This line includes "Yokofutori NAKAHARA ryu" and "Hachi-Go Hi senpou ; CHUZA Bisha" .

GOUDA backed his Rook with 9.R-3f and HABU moved up the right Silver with 9...S-2b . Replying GOUDA's dropping Pawn with 10.P*8g , HABU backed his Rook with 10...R-8e . The position of HABU's Rook is called "Hachi-Go Hi" in Japanese notation of Shogi . This line is the most common one in CHUZA Bisha . GOUDA made Ichigo gakoi with 12.K-6h and HABU started making NAKAHARA gakoi . While HABU was making NAKAHARA gakoi , GOUDA also advanced his camp .

Replying GOUDA's 16.P-4f , HABU turned his Rook with 16...R-5e on the Bishop line ! But this variation is one of the common variations . This variation is called "MATSUO shinte" .

After some moves , HABU sacrificed his left Knight with 20...Nx4e and attacked with the Bishop dropping with 21...B*4f . HABU captured GOUDA's right Lance with 22...Bx1i and GOUDA sealed the next move . Then the 1st day of this game ended .

The game will restart next morning . The game will end next evening .
