KITAJIMA selected Gokigen Nakabisha as the opening of this game . HASHIMO moved up his right Gold with 4.G4i-5h and he seemed to select Go-Hachi Kin migi Kyusen , and KITAJIMA advanced the 5th file accepting HASHIMOTO's choice .
But HASHIMOTO didn't select the line with 5.P-2d , but he moved up the right Silver with 5.S-4h . KITAJIMA moved up his Bishop with 5...B-3c to protect the 2nd file .
After some moves , KITAJIMA completed Kata mino gakoi . HASHIMOTO also completed Funa gakoi and advanced the right Silver to attack the 3c-Bishop . Just before HASHIMOTO started attacking , KITAJIMA pushed the 5th file Pawn with 11...P-5f .

After some moves , they exchanged the Bishops and the Rooks . HASHIMOTO dropped a Rook first with 26.R*2a attacking the 4a-Gold . KITAJIMA's 4a-Gold escaped with 26...G4a-5b making the Kakoi more safety .
While HASHIMOTO's attacking pieces couldn't close KITAJIMA's Kakoi , KITAJIMA's attacking pieces were slowly closing HASHIMOTO's King . HASHIMOTO advanced the 8th file Pawn with 44.P-8d attacking the 8d-Knight and aiming to KITAJIMA's Kakoi .
